The answers to your questions are as follows.

1. If you are using Freeview, you are stuck with Scottish Freeview. You will
only get what your aerial receives.

2. believe me, this is no joke. the space required for the Gaelic television
channel means that a substantial number of BBC radio services are taken off air
during the times it is broadcast. Frankly, I think this is a disgrace as for
many people in Scotland Freeview is the only reliable way of receiving a free
to air digital radio signal. The BBC have been told this and must know this,
yet they have chosen to adopt what can only be described as a “politically
correct” solution as the number of Gaelic speakers must be very small. It would
be interesting to know what the viewing figures are for this TV channel.

Hi
I’ve two questions in following up people’s answers. (Thanks for those).
1. Still pursuing the chance to get BBC1 and 2 in non Scottish format. Can
someone enlighten me – I noticed on setup I was asked for a region. If I set it
up for say, the London Region, would it work in Scotland. Is it a UK thing or
are the regions only broadcast on Freeview in their own regions?
2. I’m extremely surprised at the answer to my question on why some radio
stations are not available in the evenings in Scotland. The reply was that
Scottish people don’t get them as they’re supposed to listen to the Gaelic
stations. (Was this a joke?). If this is the reason isn’t this something to be
taken up with the authorities? Most Scottish people don’t speak Gaelic and are
being deprived of what is normal for others in the UK. Obviously if they’re off
because of financial reasons and it’s a UK thing then there’s little room for
complaining.
Thanks again in advance for any responses.

You can't do that on Freeview.

  Hi
I just bought and set up the talking tvonics today. It’s really good and
quite impressive.
  I have 3 questions.
  1. Can I get an;y of the regional BBC stations – I’m in Scotland and it’s set
to BBC1 and 2 Scotland. I sometimes prefer to watch programmes like Newsnight
in their English entirety rather than getting the Scottish section at 11pm. Is
there any way of getting for example, BBC2 London? Or is there a way of
changing region easily without retuning?
  2. Is the network connection accessible and how do I access BBC Iplayer etc.
  3. I notice that Radio 4 extra and some other radio channels are off or their
epg listing shows that nothing happens between 6 and midnight. Is this a
non-downloading of the Programme Guide and if it is, how can I correct it. If
these stations are definitely off, why, and is it a temporary feature?
  Thanks.
