Andrew,

It is possible to run Dragon and Jaws together without resorting to I-say.

Yes, facilities compared with what you can do with I-say are reduced, hut if 
you want to get away from keying lots of text then a standard version of 
Dragon will suffice.  You will also need to edit on the keyboard to save 
much time, so, to repeat myself, it would purely be a means of simple 
dictation.

I am totally blind and was able to 'train' Dragon without any outside help.
