Hi Jackie.
Remember that the quality/quantity of points of interest and mapping data is
no better or worse than Tom-tom on which the Sendero products are based.
The app also integrates with 4square which may or may not provide you with
more relevant POI information, however I think most would agree that GPS is
best when used in urban areas, I for instance live in cities for the most
part, walking down the local high street for instance yesterday provided me
with so much information about my surroundings, it was like having a super
lenses through which I could get an overview of where I was just like any
other person, that's the thrill factor for me at the moment, though
doubtless within a month or too I will consider this to be as commonplace
and will expect all future solutions commercial or otherwise to set the
standard.

I quite like the Breeze myself in that you can just walk your route and get
information as you go without having to attend to it too much. The big
round button is easy to identify in your pocket to get info, and while I
agree it is a bit on the bulky side, and the fact the chipset is old, it is
good for straightforward use. It is also great for adding landmarks like a
specific road crossing or something meaningful to you.
I am not a huge GPS user because our area is rural, and we are really
surrounded by fields and trees unless we walk into what I would describe as
a large village/small town. I daresay that if I ventured further afield,
there would be a lot more purpose for it. Having said all that though, I
like looking at various GPS apps and devices, and have to say I haven't seen
anything outstanding about RNIB Navigator yet! I am also reading the guide
and playing with it at the same time, but the wow factor isn't in it for me
at the moment.
Still, it's good to play, and the beauty of mobile apps is that they aren't
too expensive, and indeed are often free.

I agree about the breeze, I only wish they would put out a software

My first observation about this app.
First of all I have only just installed it and only plaied about with it
for
a short time. I need to advise that I haven’t walked out and about with it
yet and only plaied about here at home. Hving said that, I must say that
although it definitely recognised my address, sadly it claims that there
are
no near by places even though this is definitely not true. For example,
there is a pub, an off licence and a couple of shops all within about 5
minutes or less walking distance from here. It says that it partly uses
google maps and google maps certainly recognises those location, but this
app does not.
Also, in order to find friends near by it says that you have to log in to
facebook, but I don’t see anywhere with in this app an option to do so. So
how does one log in to fb with this app?
So, it’s hard to judje how good this app is, as I said, it is
disappointing
that it doesn’t recognise certain points of interest near by my flat, but
as
I also mentioned, I haven’t walked about with it therefore I most
certainly
didn’t fully test it.
