The other thing to note about running JAWS from a thumb drive is that you 
still need to have access to a local or networked JAWS licence, just as if 
you had installed JAWS on the machine you were using it on -- you can't have 
your license on the thumb drive.  If you don't have access to a licence you 
will have to run JAWS in 40-minute demo mode, which really sucks.  I think 
the thumb drive JAWS was brought out in a panick as FS were trying to keep 
up with the competition (Freedom Box, Dolphin, GW), and I have doubts as to 
whether it will be properly maintained in the future, particularly given the 
licensing issue.
