Hi all

W-e pro which covers all operating systems from 95 onwards excluding NT4 but including other NT based systems like 2000 xp home and xp pro and server 2003 costs L520 from UK dealers as far as I'm aware. With an SMA that gives the user 3 upgrades it costs L680.
If you got JFW pro and a pro SMA the price of JFW by my reckoning is L975 with two upgrades included in the SMA, they charge extra for remote access which is included in the Dolphin and GW packages, that would add another L125 or so on to the cost.

I think JFW home with a two upgrade SMA costs L780

I use XP Pro have done for years for networking and multi processor support, and I do use remote desktop when I'm away from home, and I have done for a year or two now, even when I was in university.

I'm glad we have official word on the JFW protection, it sounds better than the version that was mooted at sight village two years ago. I think most companies in our industry will be looking at protection for now. after-all, it works well for XP. I think I'd have gone for 5 activations though rather than 3, but it looks like they have this covered at point of sale.

All the best

I don't think it's half the price, a bit less maybe.

I think this is the way it is. Take it from someone who has gone through it. In spite what FS are telling you, the truth is a different matter. Why not try it for yourselves? You can install that CD as many times as you like, sure. But you can only Activate three times. You get your jaws on three computers and that's it. After that you have to call FS. Right now the response is fast, but perhaps not in a year or so. And if you have no access to a computer? Well, there's a 1 800 number to call or you can do it by snail mail. Otherwise your screwed, unless, as FS say themselves. You can activate from a sighted friends computer, if you can trust that person. Job Access With Sighted Help. You know what? I tried a demo of window eyes 5.0 and its not so bad and half the price. I hope they get the message soon. For more info. Contact mailto:Activate@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi,

I really hope someone on this list can speak with someone in the US on
this - this is not what the help file says. I assumed that from what
the help said that the process was like the process used in Windows XP
activation, whereby a fingerprint is taken of the hardware in the
machine. If this is indeed 3 activations after 3 requests, then it is
useless.

Andrew.

George, what FS is doing here is giving the user two disks. One disk for
the program and another has a 20 digit number that is registered to the
seriel number of the product., you insert the Activate CD and the 20
digit number is placed in a locking code on your hard drive. Then, to
activate the software, you connect to FS. They check the 20 digit number
on your machine to make sure your number matches with your product
seriel code. If it's a match FS will send an OK back to the machine. FS
keeps a count of how many times you have asked for an activation,
quitting on the count of three, at which point you are asked to email or
phone FS.
