HI, I always find it easiest on any PC i use to set up a shortcut key to launch the speech software; typically I have JAWS Thunder and NVDA so set up a differnt key combination for each, useually Alt plus Control plus the respective first letters (N for NVDA, T, for Thunder, J for JAWS). In XP at least you can do this, I guess you can set it up fairly easily on win 7 and vista too. In order to set up the shortcut, I navigate through the start menu, to the program group for the screenreader concerned, and when on the appropiate item to launch the screen reader, you hit the applications key and bring up properties, from in there, I think on the first tab, is the area to enter the key combination to launch the application concerned. Of course you could use this for any other applications too, E.G., to launch commonly used bits of software; just ensure the key combination you pick isn't something that will conflict with another application, most especially for me this is trying to remember not to use a key combination that is used by JAWS in any scripts or hotspots I use with JAWS.
