Firstly you must hever hook a CD power adaptor (most are) to something
expecting an AC input you'll blow it up. There are some occasions, mostly
cheap DJ mixers that actually use a AC power adaptor with what looks like a
DC power jack, be careful.
Assumkng you've determined AC/DC generally you have to watch for the power
supply voltage, too little and you may not get your unit started, too much
and you may cause damage. Also pin polarity at the connector may be an
issue potentially though I haven't knowingly seen much variation here.
Assuming you may have all these right and the connector fits you may still
not get an operating unit, current draw may exceed what the power supply is
able to deliver. You must make sure the current capacity specified often as
Milli-amps (mA) is equal to or exceeds that of the unit you are trying to
power, too little and the lights might not comon as it were.
Sounds like you have something suitable already but check the voltage on the
power supply you are using. It doesn't matter what the adaptor was
supplying power too in it's past be it charger or some other gizmo it's all
power, but it might matter in the voltage is too hot.

Hi all -
I'm using the Ministry Of Sound personal dab radio which seems to eat it's
way through batteries every 4-5 hours! To save on this, I have hooked it up
to my surround sound system, using a mains power adapter/charger. The one
I'm using didn't come with the radio, but I have lots of these powerpacks
from all kinds of different appliances I have bought through the years, and
I'm wondering if because the radio is working using one of them, if it's
actually safe? In other words, are all these power supplies standard,
whether they double as chargers or not? Am I safe doing what I'm doing?
Could doing this damage the radio? I'm guessing that it's safe, but needed
to check for peace of mind.
