Hi Jackie.

That's a good point. I never thought that FS would be now focusing on the new OS and turning their backs on XP Home so soon.

Still not sure though as I do a lot of audio stuff with GW and use the Accessible BBC Listen Again and Live Radio thing a lot. I've heard that VISTA does not like you using things like this as well as external sound cards etc, so, not really sure what to go for. Perhaps I'll get some good feed-back from other members. No hurry as I've got a month or so before I upgrade.

Best wishes.
Andy

Hi Andy

I am using Vista Home Premium on my laptop, not because I chose it that way, but rather because it came installed when I needed to purchase one.

I find it ok for what I need to use it for, and I'm now running JFW 9.0 whatever the added digits are.

The only thing I don't like about Vista is the fact it seems to remember every Email address you use, whether it is in your contacts book or not. I haven't worked out how or where to stop this occurring.

Ian set it up for me in the XP style, and whether or not you argue that it is pointless to do this, at least I can find everything I need when I want it.

Personally, if Vista is out there and you want to upgrade, go with the flow. I feel that Freedom Scientific is concentrating on the new Operating System, so any known bugs in XP and older are less likely to be rectified.

Good luck.

Jackie

Subject: [access-uk] JAWS 8 0 on XP Home OS

Hi all.

I've JAWS 6.0 on an XP Home OS computer and JAWS 8.0 Professional on a XP Media Center OS computer.

Will JAWS 8.0 Professional work on the older XP Home OS computer? I don't wish to start having to purchase individual upgrades for both OS's.

Got a second question.

I'm thinking of upgrading both computers to a new computer in the coming weeks and was wondering with operating system should I go for: XP Home; XP Media Center or VISTA?

Thanks in advance for any advise.

Best wishes.

Andy.
