Hi George.

Yes, going with what people are saying to me in the street, VISTA is better left until we have a SP or two, but it's nice to have this confirmed by yourself.

I bought a new computer last year, a Zoostorm XP Media centre and I hate it. So I'm loathed to get another one. However, is XP Home not going to be scrapped soon? Not sure what to do. I've been buying Packard Bell computers from PC World but in April I decided to buy elsewhere, Computers Next Day, I think their name was and although it only cost £720, the specification was quite impressive. However, the keyboard and mouse are horrible, the display is rubbish, it's very loud and even though I use an external sound card with it, the quality of sound is dull - too much base like. I hate the idea of going back to PC World because all their computers have Norton on board, so I'm not yet sure where to start looking. So it would be nice, for once, to hear from a list member who is actually delighted with their purchase.

Best wishes.

Andy.

Hi Andy,

The answer to your first question is, "Yes".

As for the second, that depends on how brave you are.
Personally speaking, I want to see Vista Service Pack 1
released before I make a decision about installing Vista in
my office. I have it on my system at home, and don't like it
much, but my wife also has had it on her laptop since
Christmas, and she's not screaming holy murder at me - YET!
In fact, she seems to be getting on quite well with it. (So
miracles can happen after all - smile!)

George.

Subject: [access-uk] JAWS 8 0 on XP Home OS

Hi all.

I've JAWS 6.0 on an XP Home OS computer and JAWS 8.0
Professional on a XP
Media Center OS computer.

Will JAWS 8.0 Professional work on the older XP Home OS
computer? I don't
wish to start having to purchase individual upgrades for
both OS's.

Got a second question.

I'm thinking of upgrading both computers to a new computer
in the coming
weeks and was wondering with operating system should I go
for: XP Home; XP
Media Center or VISTA?

Thanks in advance for any advise.

Best wishes.

Andy.
