James an N95 is one of the designated phones, or at least I understand this from Steve Nutt Computer Room Services and I would not expect Steve to make a mistake like that.

Hi Eleanor,

No demo version exists, and note that if it did, it would not work on an N95 anyways. It would only run on the designated phones.

Good question, I would be interested in that also.

Is there a demo version that I could download for my N95 to test it out?

Thanks to all who advised me on the KNFB Reader.

It does sound like a very useful piece of kit. It was first suggested to
me
by an Access to Work advisor, so ATW would be paying for it.

Cheers

Barry

Hi Barry.

I've never used this, but it will only work on two phones as I'm aware,
the
Nokia 6220 classic and the N82. If you haven't either of these phones
then
forget it as you wont get best performance. Its made by the same people
who
make Kurzweil, so its bloody expensive for what it does which is
essentially
scan in documents using your digital camera on the phone. If you've a
laptop that you regularly take in to meetings with you IE to take notes,
you
might find it cheaper to buy yourself an external USB powered scanner and
use that instead with supporting software.

Subject: [access-uk] How good is the KNFB reader

Hi all

Although I do get quite a lot of information by email before
meetings that I attend, there are the inevitable last minute documents
that
are handed out. I've read up on the KNFB Reader, but the blurb is by the
makers and distributors, those with a vested interest.

So, I was wondering what anyone who is actually using it thinks of
it's performance. Does it read documents accurately? Is it quick and
easy
to use? Is it intrusive?

Many thanks

Barry
