But then you'd have to find where to sign form, not easy though you may be
able to read said form with scanner. Tbh, fill form out online, then
electronic signature via check box would work. Some banks use this method.

Yes good point
I am no sure whether this can still be done but The passport office
used to let people fill form in online And then it was sent via post to
the customer to sign.

So yes DWP could do something like that.

Personally, it's not that DWP correspondence is hard to read (in my case by scanner or equivalent) but it would be easier if their forms were available
to complete on-line.

Well if a scanner is so cheap and easy to use
Why is RNIB taking legal actins against DWP?

After all, all DWP documents can be read either online,
Or use scanner.

In 1948, you'd be hard put to it to read print via scanner, while nowadays
it's cheap and easy to do just that.

In the name of customer service, surely it's better if someone asks you
some
basic questions rather than making assumptions. What proportion of blind
people read Braille? A very small one is my understanding. Something like
20,000 out of a couple of million people was an estimate made by RNIB some
years ago.

Vince.

But if we go by legal defination of blind
Is it not correct to assume blind people can not read print.

The National Assistance Act 1948 states that a person can be
severely sight impaired if they are "so blind as to be unable to
perform
any work for which eye sight is essential" (National Assistance Act
Section 64(1)).

If they know u r blind, they will prob assume you want braille,
that's a bad
assumption imho.

E-on send me bills in Braille. I have no idea why, as I've never
asked for
it, can't read it and find it a nuisance that because of it my bills
arrive
late so that I never get a prompt payment discount. Phoning them is
a
long-winded and possibly expensive nightmare, though no doubt I
could
scratch around for an email address. It's good to know that they can
produce
Braille, of course, for those who want it.

I will shortly be needing to move house and get involved with online
utility
accounts and billing.

I would be very interested to hear of people's good and bad
experiences in
this regard within the last few months.

TIA.
