Hi, in terms of a registry cleaner, try Advanced Windows Care, preferably the Personal Edition, from www.iobit.com. Hope that helps.

Hi Steve -

Thanks Yep, got that now, and the scan showed that a small number of my drivers were out of date, they then want 30 dollars to allow me to download the latest ones! I thought there was a free driver update site somewhere. I also need [or think I might] a registry cleaner, if you or somebody else can recommend one.

All my problems with this machine seem to be to do with sound, CDEX locks up my PC, Windows media player Unloads JFW, and also freezes the PC at other times; PowerDVD when I had it on here would also freeze the PC.

I'd love to get to the bottom of this, anybody any thoughts to what might be the problem?

Thanks -

Andy

| Hi Andy,
|
| To click on the information bar, press Alt-N when you get this message, then
| space bar, and then arrow down to Install Active X.

| Steve -
|
| I'm having a problem with trying to install the active X programme, the
| website gives me this message:
|
| "The Internet Explorer information bar has temporarily blocked the
| installation of the ActiveX control that is required to run the DriverAgent
| scan.
|
| To allow Internet Explorer to install the required ActiveX control, please
| complete the following steps:
|
| Step 1
|
| Click the Internet Explorer information bar to display install options.
|
| Step 2
|
| From the displayed ActiveX information bar menu, select Install ActiveX
| Control
|
| Please Note: If you have arrived on this page and do not see an Internet
| Explorer Information bar, please check our ActiveX problem page."
|
| I can't see an Internet Explorer information bar I clicked on their "active
| x problem" link, but nothing happened!
|
| I've looked in Internet options on the tool bar, and looked under the
| security tab, and have changed active x from disable to enable, but that
| doesn't seem to make any differencce!
|
| So, How do I allow for an active x control to install?
|
| Thanks -
|
| Andy

||
|| Andy, hope someone adds useful knowledge on this one from actual use of
| the
|| Driver Agent site, but it doesn't really surprise me it is asking to
| install
|| or use this Active X plug-in or extention. I think the on-line

|| and anti-virus scans do this too. No harm in being careful.

||
|| Hi all
||
|| With a view to trying to repair my NEC dvd_rw nd1300a drive, I have found
||
|| www.driveragent.com
||
|| This website scanns one's computer and informs of the latest driver
| updates.
|| When I clicked to allow this, I got a pop up message from Internet

|| install ahead of scanning my PC.
||
|| Firstly, has anybody used this website, and is it safe? Secondly is it ok
| to
|| allow active X to install?

|| Thanks -
