Hi, yes it did mess up on my old XP laptop, but only by causing the Video Intercept to be reinstalled. Anyway the Personal Edition is in fact free of charge, and is therefore, well, cheap <smiles>! The Pro version was nice, but it's shareware and I personally didn't need to pay for it if the Personal Edition does really the same job as the Pro Edition.

Hi Chris,

Out of interest, why preferably the personal edition? Just because it is
cheaper, or does the pro version have accessibility issues?

Incidentally, I tried this program, and it messed up the registry on a test
machine I have. Personally I wouldn't touch it.

All the best

Steve

Hi, in terms of a registry cleaner, try Advanced Windows Care, preferably
the Personal Edition, from www.iobit.com. Hope that helps.

Hi Steve -

Thanks Yep, got that now, and the scan showed that a small number of my drivers were out of date, they then want 30 dollars to allow me to download the latest ones! I thought there was a free driver update site somewhere. I also need [or think I might] a registry cleaner, if you or somebody else can recommend one.

All my problems with this machine seem to be to do with sound, CDEX locks up my PC, Windows media player Unloads JFW, and also freezes the PC at other times; PowerDVD when I had it on here would also freeze the
PC.
I'd love to get to the bottom of this, anybody any thoughts to what might be the problem?

Thanks -

Andy

| I'm having a problem with trying to install the active X programme, | the website gives me this message:
|
| "The Internet Explorer information bar has temporarily blocked the | installation of the ActiveX control that is required to run the
DriverAgent
| scan.
|
| To allow Internet Explorer to install the required ActiveX control, | please complete the following steps:
|
| Step 1
|
| Click the Internet Explorer information bar to display install options.
|
| Step 2
|
| From the displayed ActiveX information bar menu, select Install | ActiveX Control
|
| Please Note: If you have arrived on this page and do not see an | Internet Explorer Information bar, please check our ActiveX problem
page."
|
| I can't see an Internet Explorer information bar I clicked on their
"active
| x problem" link, but nothing happened!
|
| I've looked in Internet options on the tool bar, and looked under | the security tab, and have changed active x from disable to enable, | but that doesn't seem to make any differencce!
|
| So, How do I allow for an active x control to install?
