Hi Catherine

You may well find it extremely difficult to get hold of something now
with a serial port on it, I haven't seen one for donkeys ages. You
might get round this by using a serial to USB adapter for something like
a Braille display though. And if you want to attach a mouse or an
external keyboard, then the USB again comes into play.

Hi,

Thanks, I'll look into the possibility of a netbook too. I forgot to
say--another important thing to me is, ideally to have a ps2 slot and
serial port which I guess will narrow down what I can buy quite a lot.

Regarding fixing my current laptop, well I don't know what caused the
problem but it says a certain file is missing or corrupt and windows
needs repairing; I don't understand how to use the repair part of the
windows CD because when I try and use it it gives instructions on how to
exit the repair console but according to the person reading for me it
doesn't say how to continue with it. If I try to reinstal windows it
gets to the point where it lists the drives, but the list is full of
things saying "unknown, there is no disk". Sometimes it also interrupts
the process with a "fatal error" type mdssage, windows has shut down to
protect my system or somesuch. I have antivirus and antispyware
solutions installed. This happened last time and I got it fixed but it
cost me and the guy never told me what the problem actually was. So I
don't know what the pqoblem is but I've had enough; I can't keep
throwing money at it and it's time to start afresh with a new system.
