Hi Lynda

I can only describe the Barclay's card reader.

It is roughly two and a half inches square, has a standard telephone-type keypad on the front with three function keys at the top and a slot where you insert the card.

Initially, you insert the card, press the identify button and key in your card pin number. An eight digit random number is then spoken. You can also repeat the number digit by digit. This is used as part of the log-in steps to access your account.

It is also used when paying a bill or transferring cash.

Hope this is of some help.

Ok guys, so I hold my hands up as plead ignorance...what exactly are these talking card readers for, use in the home with your own bank account or to use in shops etc for chip & pin. Perhaps I'm the only one who doesn't know,
well ok so go on enlighten me why I would need one?

Ah, but you're not the only one who doesn't understand what a card reader is Phil,
and a look around on the Net hasn't yielded anything useful. so I
hope the kind techies out there will let us in on the secret soon.

All the best.
