this is not my suggestion. The BBC iPlayer people know about this and recommend
turning off the JAWS virtual cursor. You can read about it at
http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/help/access_iplayer/readers where it is
all set out.

Many thanks to all the replies. Iain's workaround (turning virtual cursor off)
kind of worked. Controlling flash player that way is extremely flimsy but
thanks for the idea. I tried NVDA as suggested but that didn't make any
difference. I'll give it another go...

So does anyone know what the BBC has changed on their site for this problem to
start happening? It is worth writing to them about it. It might be good to
include some technical details if anyone can advise. Thanks.

What you need to do is turn off the JAWS virtual cursor and use the Tab key to
get to these buttons.

Hello all, lately I've been having problems playing programs on the BBC site.
Jaws now doesn't recognise the pose button, volume button, time line button
etc. All Jaws sees is the play button but after I press it Jaws doesn't see any
of the flash player buttons including the play/pose button. Is it just me? The
issue happens with Jaws 12 and 13 too. Anyone is having the same issue? Thanks.
