Hi Janet.
You cannot read Kindle books on the echo, only books purchased from Audible can
be played at the moment. As for the buttons on the speaker, with the speaker
facing you with the power outlet socket on the rear of the device, the button
on the top left hand side is the mute button, this button has a concave surface
with a symbol in the middle and the button on the right hand side is the action
button. This button has a raised dot in its centre and is used to wake the
device if you are unable to get the attention of the device using the wake
word, typically when the device is playing music at high volume.

hi Ibrahim, I have managed to get the wifi fixed but I can’t get anywhere on
the app on my phone. Can you tell me how to get my kindle books on there and
where I could find a list of things to ask and the final thinhg I need to know
is what are the two bottons on the top of the speaker for. thanks very much.

Hi Janet.
You don’t need sighted assistance to set up the echo, however you do need to be
familiar with iOS or Android operating systems or have someone willing to set
up the Echo for you if you are not. The Alexa app is definitely usable and the
instructions provided by both app and speaker are clear and easy to follow.

Hi Alison.
Yes, most of the skills are free, however some require you to have
functionality from websites in order to work. For instance, if you want to use
JustEat to order your favourite takeaway, you obviously have to have a JustEat
account and to have placed an order before to enable this functionality. There
are other skills which enable you to order cabs, check airfare prices and
flight status etc. etc. as well as the fun and novelty ones as previously
mentioned.
