The Amazon Echo is an internet connected, voice controlled smart speaker.
It is powered by Amazon's own Alexa voice assistant, which is similar to
Siri or Google Now on Apple and Android smartphones in that it can be used
to obtain information, play music, order goods and services from Amazon and
other Alexa connected providers and (if you have the kit for it) control
your home using simple commands, for instance thermostat or lighting
controls. The speaker is at an introductory price for prime members, just
£99.99 until Friday.
