I am in need of an upgrade of my computer. Since I switched from Win 98 to
Win XP things have slowed down considerately. I have an AMD 500mhz
processor now with 384MB of Ram. I took it to a shop and they wanted $500.00
to upgrade to the slowest Pentium 4 available. I think that's a lot,
especially when you don't even know exactly what they're putting in. I have
installed a CD Rom drive, a zip drive, a floppy drive, a hard drive (with
help from technical support) a modem, and a sound card in the past. My only
hesitation is not knowing how to setup a new motherboard and cpu. I don't
think it's that hard to do but I'd hate to get stuck with a computer that I
can't use (Temporarily). Has anyone ever done this? How hard is it? Where
can I find information on how to do this?
