Virginia County Birding List

A list solely for the discussion of birding and bird distribution in Virginia counties and independent cities. NOT a list for general-interest birding discussions. Relevant topics include discussion of exact locations of jurisdictional boundaries between cities and counties and how they are determined (for the purposes of assigning bird sightings to the correct jurisdiction), as well as the increasing role of technology in birding (particularly GPS, advances in cartography, bird database software, and use of cell phones in the field) as it relates to our knowledge of bird distribution.

From nano to micro - grainscale

Grainscale is intended to be a platform where scientists can easily open and contribute to discussions on problems related to nano- to microscale processes in rocks and synthetic materials. Despite numerous scientists from several disciplines all over the world investigate these processes, an interdisciplinary platform where ideas and results can be discussed in an informal, quick and uncomplicated way is still missing. Currently, no scientific media exists that provides space for such discussions among petrologists, structural geologists, sedimentologists, mineralogists, material scientists and geochemists that work on nano- to microscale problems. "Grainscale" will combine a website (grainscale.org) where scientific data are presented in a short form with a mailing list, where these data are discussed.
