To complete the team, the Institute of Earth Surface Dynamic of the Faculty of
Geosciences and Environment invites applications for a PhD position in Spatial
planning for biodiversity conservation.
Job information
Expected start date in position : 01.08.2019
Contract length : 1 year (minimum), renewable 2 x 2 years, duration of 5 years
maximum
Activity rate : 80%
Workplace : Lausanne, Dorigny Campus, Géopolis building
Your responsibilities
At least 50% of the time will be devoted to conduct a research project in
spatial conservation planning for biodiversity conservation in the ECOSPAT
group at UNIL (www.unil.ch/ecospat<http://www.unil.ch/ecospat>) in the Vaud
Alps area (http://rechalp.unil.ch<http://rechalp.unil.ch/>) in the perspective
of obtaining a PhD.
The max 50% remaining will be devoted in priority to the coordination of UNIL's
Environmental Commission and the organisation of its "Interfaculty Seminars in
Environment"
(www.uni.ch/gse/fr/home/menuinst/formations/seminaire-interfacultaire.html<http://www.uni.ch/gse/fr/home/menuinst/formations/seminaire-interfacultaire.html>),
and supervision of practicals in some specialized Master courses in spatial
analyses, GIS and modelling.
Your qualifications
In order to complete our team, we are looking for someone with the following
skills :
• Graduated in biogeography/ecology/conservation or equivalent title ;
• Good aptitudes in numerical analyses, GIS, statistics, programming ;
• Good basic knowledge in biogeography, ecology, biodiversity
conservation, spatial analyses, statistics and field design and sampling ;
• Willingness to conduct advanced research in the fields of spatial
ecology, spatial conservation planning, using numerical simulations, and
interact with stakeholders involved in conservation ;
• Good oral and written communication skills in French ; Good oral and
written skills in scientific English.
