 - are pleased to invite applications for the Pacific Ocean Finance Fellowship

  The goal of the fellowship program is to strengthen Pacific regional capacity 
in financing for improved ocean governance and health. The program will run 
from June 1, 2019 to March 1, 2020. The deadline to

 is May 7th, 2019.

We are seeking applicants from diverse backgrounds including private sector, 
government, academic and civil society professionals who are citizens or 
permanent residents of Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Federated States of 
Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. 
If you have a passion for the ocean, leadership experience, and an interest in 
economics, finance, and/or business, then this fellowship is for you.

The new 9-month Pacific Ocean Finance Fellowship will upskill 10 outstanding 
professionals from the Pacific Islands in financing for improved ocean 
governance, management, and health.  The program includes two in-depth 
week-long trainings (24-28 June - Solomon Islands & 4-8 November - Fiji), 
participation in the 2019 Pacific Ocean Finance Conference (11-15 November - 
Fiji), as well as an individual project on the fellow's home island with 
guidance from an expert mentor (June 2019 - Feb 2020). The training and 
individual projects will focus on four ocean finance actions:

1) Generate public and private financial capital through traditional and 
innovative finance mechanisms to create diversified portfolios,

2) Invest financial capital effectively, efficiently, and strategically within 
appropriate policy frameworks and multi-sector strategies,

3) Align public and private economic incentives with long-term ocean health, and

4) Account for how financial capital is deployed against performance 
benchmarks, and account for values of marine ecosystem services through time.

Fellows will not receive a salary or compensation, and must provide evidence of 
employer or institutional support. Fellows will receive a small grant to be 
used for their individual projects.

This fellowship program is part of the Pacific Ocean Finance

 which is Component 3 of the Pacific Regional Oceanscape Program (PROP)  - 
funded by World Bank and Global Environment Facility - and implemented through 
FFA and OPOC. The aim of the Pacific Ocean Finance Program is to improve the 
amount and efficacy of finance for Pacific Ocean governance.
