good afternoon.
My name is Rafael Lembi, biologist an(d master student in Ecology at the
University of Campinas, Brazil. In July 2018, I was a member of the
organising committee of the São Paulo School of Advanced Science on
Modelling and Scenarios on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (
https://scenariosbes.wixsite.com/spsas-scenarios), a 15-day course that
took place in São Pedro, Brazil, with 80 participants from over 20
different nationalities.
As a result of the work developed by the different groups, a special issue
of the journal Biota Neotropica was edited by Dr. Carlos Joly, editor and
main organizer of the event. This special issue published the articles
written by the groups in the months following the Advanced School, and 5 of
them are already available online:

All the papers have the concept of ecosystem services, models and scenarios
as central.
Would this be suitable for the YESS newsletter? Let me know your thoughts
and feelings on this subject, if you consider appropriate.

Given the current situation with the coronavirus, besides the usual
contributions (see further below),* we would like to ask you to send us

- *Events*: share with us interesting upcoming events like conferences,
workshops, etc.
- *Open topic: *if you have an idea for a specific piece you would like
to see included in the newsletter, which does not fit in the previous
sections, please let us know. This can be anything, for example, a short
opinion piece.
