For a dedicated Windows hex editor, Maël Hörz's HxD is free and very good indeed: https://mh-nexus.de/en/programs.php

EditPad Pro is my default text editor. An excellent program, well worth the modest cost.

To get a hexdump of a file in U2, command HEXDUMP<Helpkey> or HXD<Helpkey>. Either command will open the file in HxD if HxD.exe is present in Editor's directory; otherwise, it imports a read-only hex listing into XyWrite.
