Yes, the PB command is necessary for A4, it sets the PS page dimensions
at the beginning of a new page.

Dear Kari,
Without the PB command, my printer didn't work well with A4 paper size. It was a long time ago, because now I'm not using XyWrite to print. At that time, I put a PB command at the beginning of every file and my Laserjet 4 Postscript worked very well.
