The pedestrians crossing legally in the crosswalk had the right of way, no
question. The pickup truck driver blatantly broke the law by failing to
yield.
What anyone witnessing this or any other traffic infraction should try to
do is memorize the license plate number (at least until you have a chance
to pull over and write it down), any identifying characteristics of the
vehicle and/or the driver, and call the non-emergency police number to
report it. They can look up the owner and call them to say that someone
reported this infraction. They can't ticket based on a phoned-in report,
but they can talk to the person, and it will go in the official police
record, for what those things are worth. Better than nothing.
Maybe it would be worthwhile to put a note to this effect on the our home
page and Facebook page!

First, Excuse my invisible Anger as I write this.
I was stopped in the Westbound Thru Lane on Main Street at the
Intersection with Bridge Street.
The RED OVERHEAD YIELD TO PEDESTRIANS Lights were illuminated. One
Pedestrian walked across Main Street from the Family Dollar side to the
Saccarappa Park side ok. A Family of 4, with a child in a small carriage,
started to walk across from the Saccarappa Park side of Main Street in the
Crosswalk across Bridge Street, towards the Edwards Block side.
As they were halfway across, a Dodge Ram Pickup came up to turn Right from
Main Street to Bridge Street. It hesitates for a bit, then continued its
turn with the Pedestrians stopping in the Crosswalk for the Truck. A second
Car then came behind the Pickup and let the Pedestrians cross.
My $64 Question for Eric and Chief Roberts: In that Situation, with the
Pedestrians doing everything correct, WHO has the Right of Way ????@@$!/
