Hello, WSMAC,
We've been using the Freelists.org mailing list for just over 6 months now,
so hopefully everyone's starting to get comfortable with it. We went with
this one because it is much more secure about personal information than
some of the other more well-known ones, but I think it can also be a little
less friendly. So this message is intended to clarify a few things.
*Membership*
Firstly, here is the members list. This is not publicly available, but
Leelee and I have access to it as list administrators. I've added first
names only, again for privacy, although many of the last names are part of
the address anyway.

This list is provided for your reference. When you reply to the list, keep
in mind who is on it. Please consider whether a reply to the entire list is
appropriate or necessary, or if you might want to just reply to a few
people.
As a review, new people can sign up to the list by going to the public list
page <https://www.freelists.org/list/wsmac> here, entering their email
address at the bottom, and clicking "Go!" next to the "Subscribe" drop-down.
*Other List Options*
The list page <https://www.freelists.org/list/wsmac> also provides these
other handy features:
- *Email archive*: All past emails are archived by going to the list page
<https://www.freelists.org/list/wsmac> and following the "wsmac Archive"
link (third from top). This may or may not be more useful than searching
through your email program.
- *Vacation mode*: If you're going on vacation, you can turn off email
from the list while you're away. Go to the list page, enter your email at
the bottom, and instead of "Subscribe", choose "Turn vacation mode on" in
the drop-down control, then click "Go!". When you return, don't forget to
do the same with "Turn vacation mode off" in the drop-down.
- *Digest mode*: Instead of getting each message as it is sent, you may
elect to get them all in a group less frequently. I'm not sure if this is
daily, weekly, whenever a certain number have accumulated, or what. As with
vacation mode, this can be turned on or off on the list page
<https://www.freelists.org/list/wsmac>, entering your email, and
choosing "Turn digest mode on" or off in the drop-down.
- *Unsubscribe: *If you've had enough of us :-), you may unsubscribe at
any time by choosing "Unsubscribe" from that same dropdown.
I hope the list is useful!
- John
