Greetings, WSMAC list,
In my capacity as Past Chair, and on behalf of the current Core Committee,
I wanted to give you an update on WSMAC Core Committee elections for 2021.
As the pandemic has slowed down everything, so it has slowed down our
election process. Our by-laws state that we will hold elections every
January, at a regular monthly meeting. Since we are not currently holding
monthly meetings, we've had to make some changes, and discussing it all by
email has taken some time. Fortunately, the by-laws also give the Core
Committee the general power to make necessary decisions, as long as we
communicate those decisions to the general membership. So, we are moving
forward with elections in March, and hereby informing you, our membership,
of that decision.
Nominations have been open since December, and we have a full slate at this
point. However, we are holding the nomination process open a little while
longer, so *you are still free to nominate someone else, or even yourself,
for any of these positions!* Nominations and voting are limited to
residents of Westbrook.* Please do so by replying to this email.
Nominations so far for 2021 are:
- *Chair*: Kim Tarbox (Nominated by John Brooking, seconded by Leelee
Prince)
- *Vice Chair*: Dennis Marrotte (Nominated himself, seconded by John)
- *Treasurer*: Kristi Dupere* (Nominated herself, seconded by John)
- *Secretary*: John Brooking (Nominated himself, seconded by Leelee)
* Because our bylaws state that Core Committee and general voting
membership is limited to residents of Westbrook, we hereby inform you that
the Core Committee has approved an exception for Kristi as Treasurer, as
she is currently not living in Westbrook. We are confident that her
residency status will not have a negative impact on her ability to function
as our Treasurer.
We anticipate voting in March, although we have not yet set a date. We are
currently discussing how to hold elections without having an in-person
meeting. We are leaning towards some kind of online survey tool. If you
have suggestions, please let us know! We will provide the details as soon
as we have them.
Again, please reply if you have any further nominations, or simply a
question or concern about the elections, or WSMAC in general. Best wishes

forward to seeing you all again, especially in person when possible!
