Good points Dennis. Parking lots are always treacherous for pedestrians,
but even more so in winter with the mounds of snow everywhere effecting
visibility.

Here's the list of priority locations that were identified at the ped forum
last May:
1. *Cumberland Mills/Rite Aid triangle* – limited crosswalks,
no crosswalks, speeding traffic, lack of ADA features, signals not present,
no sidewalks, roundabout needed.
2. *Main Street crosswalks* – speeding traffic, crosswalks are not
visible enough, lack curb cuts or bumpouts.
3. *William Clark Drive crosswalks* – problems with maintenance and
condition, walk signals don’t work, lack of ADA features, not enough
crosswalks.
4. *Cumberland and Park* – speeding traffic, no crosswalk, no sidewalk.
5. *Cumberland and Bridge* – speeding traffic, no turn on red, signals
not present or no working well, no sidewalk.
6. *East Bridge Street*
7. *Spring Street toward County Road*

Two other concerns I want to make all of us on WSMAC aware of, this busy
time of year.
1. Walking in Parking Lots for grocery or department stores, to and from
your vehicle: Watch out for vehicles backing up from a parking slot, and
driving diagonally across parking lanes, at high speeds.
2. In a week, we have seen already, 2 Incidents with Drivers saying to
police, they got the gas instead of the brakes. First at Dry Cleaner in
Portland, woman had both Legs surgically amputated below thighs.
2nd happened yesterday in Auburn. A woman drove thru and into a store, no
injuries, but Glass shards everywhere.
