Orientation & Mobility, AKA, the skill of using a white cane.
It is to be noted that O&M skills need to be in place before using a guide
dog.

My former O&M instructor Caitlyn Blodget made a film about 15 years ago
which featured several blind & visually impaired people navigating several
busy intersections.
At one time this film could be found on the State website.
I have a separate film that proceeded the final film that featured only
me.
For many years Caitlyn and I did presentations to driver's education
classes bringing attention to blind pedestrians. The films were shown in the
classes before our presentations. The films were also given to a class of
driver's ed instructors.
I'll give some thought to doing a field trip demonstrating O&M but, don't
count on it.

The Westbrook Safe Mobility and Access Committee(WSMAC) is considering a
mini immersion day at Westbrook Together Days to give individuals a chance
to understand what it is like to get around without vision. We would like to
have your input as well as input from Kathy Clarrage on the feasibility of
this idea as well as precautions that should be taken. We want the public to
be able to understand what it is like to navigate the world being vision
impaired but we want to do this safely. We look forward to hearing from you.
