Good Morning,
This past Autumn and Summer, the City had a Mobile Trailer Speed Limit 25
MPH Sign on East Bridge Street, between Methodist Road and Park Road. I am
sure that helped in getting Driver's attention and slowed Drivers down.
I am here, respectfully asking that a Mobile Trailer Speed Limit 25 MPH
Sign be placed on Bridge Street, between Mitchell Street and the Cumberland
Street Intersection, on the Side heading towards Cumberland Street. I have
seen WAY Too Many Close Calls at that 4 Way Intersection, even though it is
a Traffic Signal Controlled Intersection and the Crossroads for 4 Major
Commuter Arteries :
1. Cumberland Street
2. River Road
3. Bridge and East Bridge Streets
4. Methodist Road ( to/from Rte.302 )
Lots of 10 Wheeled Dump Trucks,
Westbrook School Buses, 18 Wheeled Tractor Trailers, METRO Passenger Buses
and the Morning / Late Afternoon Early Evening Commuters ALL go thru the
Bridge and Cumberland Street Intersection. To some, the Traffic Signals are
apparently a Delay and the posted 25 MPH Speed Limit Signs on Bridge Street
are ignored.
Thank You,
Dennis Marrotte
