Radio activities for the twelfth month (ought to be called Dodecember!) brings
much:
The mince pies, the rum-soaked nutty fruit-cake[1], and the DX hunting, as we
head from autumn into winter. The winter solstice, and, of course, Christmas.
On Monday the 8th, West Kent ARS offers you the social evening of the year. At
the usual venue, Bidborough Hall, we shall be welcoming all to our festive
feast. Our wassailing is run on a communal basis, so please bring something
edible to the party!
(Do)December brings the RSGB's four-day xmas event, the Christmas Cumulatives
Contest. This begins on Boxing Day, the 26th, running each day from 2pm to
4pm, closing 4pm on Monday the 29th. It's on 6, 4, 2 and 70cms, so
opportunities for all for a xmas work-out for your station. Even if you don't
wish to engage each day, it's an excellent opportunity to check your station
across four bands. Wealthier radio folk, please don't forget to give the
presents to your servants before you begin, as per boxing day tradition.
So, your call - watch a James Bond film for the 53rd time, or get on the radio!
