I failed to mention it, but Jon Roti Roti and I also counted six ibis that
were in view at one point yesterday morning -- although we didn't examine
them all individually at that time to determine how many were adults vs.
juveniles. Interesting to hear that two of them are juveniles.

Subject: [wisb] more of the White-faced Ibis at Mascoutin Trail

Anita Carpenter and I went over to see the ibis this morning (just
got back). We hoped to get lucky as Tom did and see some juvenile
behavior to suggest breeding. When we arrived we quickly found 5
ibis - 4 adults and 1 young - just eating. Other birders were there
and we helped them get on the birds and answered questions for them
(about ibis and other species). I was periodically re-counting ibis,
and began to suspect that we had 6 ibis - not 5. Asked others
looking to recount. We had 6 - the 4 adults and 2 juveniles. They
were mostly only loosely associating as they fed, but on one occasion
one juvenile was feeding with 2 adults (one of the adults it was with
was the male).

Never saw any obvious begging for food or other interaction between
the birds. But it is certain that there were 6 ibis at this
location on this morning.

Jim Frank (retired Records Com. chair) arrived just as Anita and I
were leaving. Maybe he will determine more info about these birds.
