While walking the dog near St. Bernedette church on the SE side of Appleton,
there were I believe 2 merlin high in a tree at the NW corner of the parking
lot. They were backlit and I didn't have bins but their call was diagnostic for
merlin and they flew a short distance to another tree across the street in a
sort of fluttery wing beat very unlike a cooper's hawk with what seemed to be a
shorter tail than the local coopers. This would be a first in Appleton for me.
Any comments on the id would be appreciated.
