In a flock of 50-60 Pine Siskins that landed in our yard today one male that was much brighter yellow in the flanks and wing tips than the other yellow wing-tipped males. And it was different in other ways. Itâs undertail was also a strong bright yellow, and the rest of the body, especially the throat, chest, and belly, were very light tannish in color, and faintly streaked, to no streaks. I looked up Siskins in Sibleyâs and he lists a âYellow adultâ as scarce; most frequent in southwest. This bird looks very like the Sibley Yellow adult. Other identifications simply list some males as more yellow. How common is this Yellow Siskin?
