Whooping Crane nesting season is off to a great start! Despite rainy & cold weather, 16 pairs of Whooping Cranes are now incubating eggs, and more will likely follow. The previous high was 12 nesting pairs. Researchers are investigating the effect of black flies on the nesting Whooping Cranes, but all ultra-light training and release of Direct Autumn Release chicks will take place in east-central Wisconsin starting this year.
