Somehow, we survived the winter of our discontent and Spring has arrived. This must mean it's time for Madison Audubon's early morning Warbler Walks to begin. The full field trip schedule (subject to updating and revision) can be found at: http://madisonaudubon.org/ All weekday morning Warbler Walks begin at 6:00 a.m. and wrap up at 8:00 a.m. so folks can get to work, although retirees and hookey-players have been known to keep birding on "warbler-y" mornings. The walks will generally go on rain or shine, although they may be cancelled or cut short in the event of steady rain or, especially, thunderstorms. Use your best judgement. We have added some new locations this year, and in some cases have walks on opposite sides of town on the same mornings to avoid having to brave morning rush hour on the Beltline. The current schedule (see the website for directions, leaders, and contact info, or call the MAS office at 608-255-2473): Thursday, April 24 - Pheasant Branch Conservancy Tuesday, April 29 - UW Arboretum (Wingra Woods) Thursday, May 1 - Pheasant Branch Conservancy AND Olin-Turville Park Tuesday, May 6 - UW Arboretum Wednesday, May 7 - Governor's Island Thursday, May 8 - TBD (Working on it... suggestions welcome.) Monday, May 12 - Elver Park Tuesday, May 13 - Pheasant Branch AND Lake Farm Park Thursday, May 15 - Pheasant Branch AND Cherokee Marsh These are just the Warbler Walks. There are many more field trips on our schedule. The vast majority of our trips are free and open to anyone, even non-MAS members (although we'd love to have you join.)
