I can't answer Hep's question, but I thought I would update that the
Red-throated Loon was present today and still seems to be doing well. I
didn't see it until I was there for over 2 hours. I don't know what to think
of the "gash" that shows up in the photo. At times I could barely make it
out when the bird was very close, but at certain angles it was prominent. I
noticed some black feathering extends into the foreneck from the sides of
the neck, and at times this looked unnatural. I couldn't determine if this
"gash" mark was an actual injury or just an anomaly in the feathering. In
any event, the loon seems to be surviving and obviously the wealth of dying
fish is keeping it in the area.
Also interesting was a beautiful male Long-tailed Duck which was sometimes
in the same field of view as the loon!

My question to the individual(s) who saw the fisherman throw the loon back
into the water, did they Yell Out to the guy, Hey!!! To alert him they could
help or to at least alert him that they saw what he did? Cruelty to animals
makes a harsh person.
