The Milwaukee winter Mute Swan population of 5-10 birds (assuming your bird is a Mute) has been comprised of a group from lower Michigan and probably Wisconsin lakes and marshes that has wintered here since the 70's. The group usually centers on a area from South Shore Yacht Club all the way south to the end of the breakwater. This area has abundant Cladophora and mussels. If anyone is interested there is currently (as of 4:30pm) a Mute Swan that has been swimming back and forth between the small break wall in front of the art museum and the break wall in front of Discovery World. It's been going back and forth all day.
