Winter 2017-18 will go down as one of the SNOWiest on record in Wisconsin as an
estimated 280 snowy owls have been documented through February 1, eclipsing the
previous high of 253 tallied in 2013-14 and 240+ in 2014-15. Of course, higher
numbers may have been present (and likely were) in previous decades when
statewide estimates were not made.
Impressively, only 4 of Wisconsin's 72 counties lack reports this season --
Buffalo, Florence, Menominee, and Walworth.
