No, not St. Francis the Milwaukee suburb, though it has some nice birding areas ... I mean the St. Francis who loved all living things. As some of you know, I have been monitoring window strikes at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Skyway for many years. Sunday I was thinking, "about time for Hermit Thrushes to come through." Sure enough, Monday a likely candidate darted low across my path and into the shrubbery near the Skyway. I started preaching to the bird, exhorting it to be vigilant and not be seduced by the oh-so-beautiful-but-deadly glass all around. To my surprise, it came out of the shrubbery, walked a few steps on the pavement towards me, solidly planted its little feet and peered intently at me while I finished my sermon, its tail going slowly up and down the whole time as is so characteristic of the species. I so hope it got the message! Karl David Milwaukee #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
