On my drive into work this morning I had 50+ Bohemian Waxwings along Hwy 13 on
the south side of Washburn. Then had 20 CANADA GEESE (first of winter), 77+
Common Goldeneyes, 20 Mallards, and 9 Amer. Black Ducks in the small area of
open water at Long Bridge near Ashland. Also a Bald Eagle carrying nesting
material there. Lastly, again saw the COMMON GRACKLE that is overwintering on
Ashland's west end -- today the bird was off Sanborn Ave (Hwy112) near Third
Street West.

Pine Grosbeaks continue in small to moderate numbers in scattered locations.
C. Redpolls are generally scarce but I had a flock of 100+ along Beaser Avenue
in Ashland a couple weeks ago. Since then, local birder Mike Dewitt has had
50+ coming to his feeders just south of Ashland. Among them earlier this week
was a female HOARY REDPOLL that he documented with photographs.
