I went to Sheboygan to attend a preliminary planning meeting for next year's WSO Convention (Madison, May 10-14, 2012 - save the dates! It'll be fabulous...) Unfortunately, I did not manage my time very well this morning and left myself only a few minutes for a quick scan of North Point before the meeting. There are a LOT of gulls there - only oddball I picked out in the five minutes I was there was a Lesser Black-backed. I had to go to Oshkosh after the meeting, so I didn't have time to check the lake again - bears watching. On my way back to Madison tonight, I took a swing by Horicon Marsh. On a quick stop at the Bud Cook Hiking Area on W. Point Rd. (Dodge Co.) near sunset, I heard several Henslow's, Clay-colored and Vesper Sparrows, a couple of Sedge Wrens, and several Bobolinks. There don't seem to be Dickcissels at that location, but they can be found in the general area (I hear them every time I go through the Hwy 26/151 interchange north of the marsh, and I even heard one at the Hwy 41/151 interchange by Fond du Lac.) Construction notes: there are a lot of exits and roads closed in and around Sheboygan - check the WisDOT website (http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/travel/road/workzones.htm) for the gory details. There also were signs around Beaver Dam saying "Road work begins June 29" on Hwy 151 - you have been duly warned.
