We had a bit of a surprise this afternoon. As we exited our front door
something flew out from behind a broom we have in the corner of our porch.
It was a grey phase eastern screech owl. It flew into a stand of pines by
our driveway and was soon getting the attention of most of the song birds in
the neighborhood. I am not sure why it was hiding on our open porch, but it
is still in the pines.
