Dear Birders:
A few days ago we reported finding a dead adult Red-tailed Hawk along Rt 22
in Columbia Co., on 13 September 2009. We now have the full report from
the Bird Banding Lab. It took just six or seven days, not bad!

The bird with band # 1207-53169 was banded in Deerfield, Dane Co.,Wisconsin,
on 19 May 1999. This is about 26 miles crow (hawk) fly from where we
recovered it. Banded by Mr. Sergej S Postupalsky from Prairie Du Sac. It
had a notation "Was too young to fly when banded in 1999."

This would make the hawk 10 years and about four months old. Interesting!

Good birding.................. Paul & Glenna
