There was a massive migration here in Bayfield County that continued well into
this morning. From my yard at my new house near Washburn (only about a mile
from the L. Superior shoreline), I saw literally hundreds if not thousands of
warblers flying overhead between 6:45 and 10:15 am. Some were still migrating
when I finally left. It was awesome even if I could only identify a tiny
fraction of what was flying by. Among them were good numbers of Swainson's
Thrushes, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Cedar Waxwings, Purple Finches, some
Bobolinks, and others. My new yard isn't a very good foraging site but I
squeaked out 15 warbler species overall.
