This afternoon I birded from the archery range parking lot in Warnimont Park up
to where the bike trail crosses Sheridan Drive just south of Sheridan Park. I
was having trouble getting on the birds quickly enough today so about 20 of
them went unidentified- it was breezy, so I’ll use the wind for an excuse-haha!
Still I found 6 species of warblers, which for me is not bad, especially when
two of them were Cape May Warblers.
The biggest surprise came when I was in the dense shrubbery/saplings close to
the lake. Right in front of me were two female or first year male Purple
Finches. I usually don’t see these until October, so I thought it might be
worth mentioning.
