Another birder has pointed out that I neglected to mention which road I was on when I saw the plovers. The pond is on the east side of CTH I, about .1-.2 miles south of STH49. The birds were flying in and out, but my high counts were 43 Black-bellied Plovers, 5 American Golden-Plovers, and 9 Killdeer. Other shorebirds were 4 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 Lesser Yellowlegs, 2 Least Sandpipers, 1 Pectoral Sandpiper, and 1 Spotted Sandpiper. The Breezy Point pond has a little water and the only non-Killdeer shorebird I could find was a bright and beautiful Short-billed Dowitcher, the first juvenile dowitcher I have seen this fall.
