After a pretty dismal walk on the trails, the raft of ducks was too close to pass up. While scoping scaup, redheads, buffleheads, and at least 29 horned grebes I panned to the north and the small mudflat. Among the coots and shovelers were 20 avocets- 3 Forster's terns as well. This will go down as a new county bird. Bob D. always told me to keep checking that mudflat. I usually strike out- not today.
