I checked on the loon Jym reported and found two at the end of Russell Avenue where it intersects with Lincoln Memorial Drive (Bay View) and south of the coast guard station dock. Not visible from the ferry dock, I viewed the birds from the helicopter pad - very close views -and observed the smaller of the two preening endlessly and with a seemingly compromised right wing. This bird never dove in the nearly thirty minutes I watched. I put a call in to the Wildlife Rehab folk, but they thought they could do nothing. Anyone know someone with a boat or someone at the coast guard station? Actually, if anybody could peel themselves away from the Packer game to simply corroborate or correct my perhaps naive diagnosis, I'd really appreciate it. I would call the coast guard then myself to see if they'd be willing (to peel themselves away from the same game I suppose) to try to pluck this bird out so it could be sent to rehab this afternoon.
